Juvenile Day

The juvenile day on Tuesday saw Christopher Lynch visit the winner’s enclosure with the points picked up helping him close the gap in the juvenile Golfer of the Year competition. Conor McShane finished in second place. There is only 12 points separating the top 10 players in the golfer of the year chart with Conor McKinley leading the way from Eddie English and Barry McKinley who are joint second followed by Christopher Lynch, Niall Ward, Caomhan Downey, Eoghan Burns, Conor McShane, Mark Garvey, Conor Murtagh and David Norton with three rounds of fixtures to go. The weekly competition is proving very successful and on this coming Tuesday the draw for the juvenile singles matchplay will be made.

The Wednesday Cup had to abandoned due to the thunder and lightening which forced a large number of competitors off the course. This Wednesday will see play over the front nine off the white markers with the final to be played on August 27.

The August monthly medal was won by the most in-form player at the minute Daniel Hughes who continues to shoot the scores despite the work of the handicapper. Now playing off 12 Daniel shot a nett 63, 6 under par to take his second medal by a shot from Stephen O Hara.

Sunday will see the Sam Rutherford team play the first leg of their semi-final away to Tandragee at 2pm with the return leg pencilled in for Friday August 29 at 5pm.

There will be a singles stableford competition on Sunday. There will be 3 different handicap categories with a winner in each section.

Daniel Hughes and Neil Smyth have reached the last four of the singles matchplay. Daniel defeated Joe Pilkington by one hole with Neil beating David Pilkington 2/1.

The Killeavy Golf Classis is on Sat next Aug 16.

Lissummon will be holding their Golf Classic on Sat Aug 30. Timesheets for both are available in the clubhouse.

All members are reminded that the tickets for the fundraising night at the dogs in Dundalk stadium on Sept 27 have to be returned to the respective committee member either sold or unsold as soon as possible.
