Cloverhill Golf Club - Saturday Scramble

A frost free Sunday morning brought the players out early with the match an added addition. The competition for the Christmas dinner was very competitive with only two points separating 14 players. Top of the pile was Raymond Flynn with 43 points one better than runner up Mark Hughes. The Turkey competition will run again this week and maybe there might be a few cut price hams thrown into the mix.

Despite the torrential rain on Friday playing conditions for the Saturday Scramble were good as was reflected in the scoring. It was nice to see the members being put in their place with visitors dominating the top two places. Mark Kelly, Paul Campbell and Mickey McShane recorded 6 birdies and no dropped shots and a handicap allowance of 5.6 gave them a nett score of 57.4 to win by a small fraction. Runners up John McCann, Martin Connolly and Paddy McDonnell had the same score as the winners but were .2 short in the handicap allowance which cost them victory. Because of the success of the Saturday Open scrambles there are two more scheduled for Sat 20 and 27 of December at £30 per team.  Tee-times must be pre-booked Tel- 02830 889374 or 02830889580.

The annual Captain’s Dinner will take place in the clubhouse on Saturday Jan 17th. Tickets can be had from any committee member but hurry as numbers are limited.
