Cloverhill Golf Club - SEAN CAMPBELL IS THE WINNER

Sean Campbell (9) was the winner of the singles stableford Major competition kindly sponsored by former Club Captain and President Seamus McCoy. Sean split his winning tally of 42 points evenly over both nines to emerge victorious by one point from a chasing quartet of Christopher Lynch (17), Mark Keogh (10), Seamus Tumilty (14) and the sponsor himself the real McCoy , Seamus. The countback saw teenager Christopher finish runner-up with Scotsman Mark taking third spot. Gavin McErlean (18) won the front nine with 22 points with the back nine going to James Coburn (19) with 24 points. Colin Pilkington won the gross from Eugene Burns.

Next weekend there is a fourball better ball on Easter Saturday or Sunday arrange your own partner. There is a 3 person stableford team event on Easter Monday.

The first of the inter club teams goes into action away to Downpatrick on Easter Saturday 4pm in the Ulster Cup.

The Seniors held an 18 hole stableford competition on Thursday off the white markers. The man in -form Joe Hazzard took the honours with 45 points well clear of second placed Seamus McCoy with Noel Magill back in third place. It's back to the Green markers this Thursday.

The Friday Open Competition was well attended with Stephen Markey (14) with 43 points the clear winner from Paddy Clarke (13) from Kilkeel second with 40 points and Barry McKeown (16) coming out the right side of a 6 way tie for third with 37 pts. The Friday Open will continue next Friday (Good Friday). Entry is £10 or €12 GUI Card required.

The juvenile members turned out in numbers to the lessons commenced by PGA Professional Joe Frawley on Tuesday's. Joe will be at the club this Tuesday @ 5pm. There will be a juvenile competition on Good Friday 5pm start and on Easter Tuesday 1 pm.

The Open 3 Person Scramble on Sat April 16 was dominated by the McGivern family who shot 6 birdies and no dropped shots. Led by Lady Captain Ann, husband Seamus and son Conor had a 6.4 handicap for a winning nett 56.6. Second Prize was picked up by father and son Raymond & Paul Kelly who teamed up with Paul Murchan to shoot 7 birdies with a 4.4 allowance for a nett 57.6. The fundraiser taking place on Saturday 14 May in aid of The Clarke Clinic @ Royal Victoria Childrens Hospital. has only a few places remaining on the timesheet.
