Cloverhill Golf Club - Medal For Mark
Mark Conlon (15) was the winner of the September Medal to qualify for next months gold medal final. A nett 66 return from Mark gave him a one shot victory over Shane O Neill (11) and third placed Seamus McCoy (15) who both had nett 67. The October Medal on the first weekend of October is the last chance to join the other 7 winners Christopher Reel (March), Paul Kelly (April), Gavin McErlean (May), Christopher Lynch (June), Paddy Malone (July), Seamus McParland (August) and September winner Mark Conlon.
The popularity of club President Charlie O Hare is reflected in the packed timesheet for the Presidents Prize which will be played for next Sunday. The sheet runs from 8am to 2pm so there is still room for any member who has yet to put their name down. The timesheet for the Free Subs competition on Sunday Oct 9 is attracting a lot of numbers as one of the best prizes of the year is there for the taking -free membership for 2012.
There will be new names etched on the pairs matchplay trophy as first time finalists Brendan Byrne and fellow Louth villager Dermot Smyth take on recent medal winner Mark Conlon and Dromintee's Henry McCrink meet in the coming week in the final. The Singles matchplay is down to the last four where Seamus McGivern takes on Anthony Hillen and in the battle of the Shanes Grant takes on O Neill for a place in the final.
A BRIDGE TOO FAR
It was a case of a "Bridge too far" for Seamus McGivern's Rossmore Cup team as they lost the two legged final to Banbridge . A 2-2 home draw and a 3 hole deficit had to be overturned at Banbridge on Saturday but the home side were not about to let all their good away work come unstuck as they won the home leg 3-1. Well done to Seamus and his squad of players for reaching the final.
The Seniors were away at the Cowdy Seniors Day in Kilkeel last Thursday and they will be back in action on home soil this coming Thursday.
The Friday Open fell victim to the torrential rain with the early starters all retiring due to the deteriorating playing conditions The Friday Open will continue until the end of October. Entry is £10 or €12 GUI Card required. Tel 028 30 889 374
