CLUB CLASSIC A GREAT SUCCESS
76 teams representative of 14 different golf clubs took part in the club classic over the Easter weekend. The three person team event with 2 scores counting at 16 holes and all three at holes 4 & 13 produced some good scoring. Although it was a home team of Joe Mackin (14), Joe Carroll (16) and Jim Conroy (21) who won the top prize a fourball at the K-Club with 98 points (49 for each nine) the runners up came from Ringduffrin Patrick Montgomery (6), Michael Moreland (11) and Kevin Swann (12) who finished with 94 points to win the fourball at Headford. The third prize of a fourball for Concra Wood also went for export to Lisburn Peter Wilson (9), Stanley Emerson (14) and Tristan Taylor (12) who also 94 points beaten on the countback.
The daily winners were Sat-Joe Hazzard, Raymond Flynn and Seamus Tumilty (94 pts), Sun-Benny Tierney, Ollie Reel, Declan O Neill (90 pts) Mon-Pat Ryan, Noel Woods, Sean O Neill (88 pts)

The Ulster Fourball team got the inter club competitions off to a great start with a 5-0 home win over Temple. The team comprised of Jim Conroy, Larry O Rourke, Declan O Neill, Joe Hazzard, Anthony Murphy, Raymond Martin, Vincie Gorman, Brendan Hughes, Gerry McShane and Gene Hughes.The away leg in Temple is on next Sunday. There are four one day qualifiers and 8 home and away matches to be played before the end of May on the inter club front. Cloverhill the defending Sam Rutherford holders will play Ringdufferin away on May 10 with the home leg on May 24.The sides met in last years competition a very tight match and their trio finishing second in the classic shows that they are out for revenge. The Rossmore Cup team will play at home to Dungannon on May 10 with the away leg on May 31.

The Seniors on Thursday held an 18 hole stableford competition. Charlie O Hare was the winner with Jim McDonald in second place.


The Crash Repair Cup 9 hole midweek competition will commence on Monday April 20 with the front nine holes off the white markers in use. The competition will run for a total of 18 weeks with alternate nines of white and green markers being used. The 18 winners will then play in an 18 hole competition on Wednesday August 26 for the Crash Repair Cup. A request from members to broaden the competition now allows play on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of any particular week.
