Important Weekend Ahead

Next weekend for the first time in the clubs history three teams will compete in the quarter finals of inter-club competitions. The Sam Rutherford team will play hosts to Ringdufferin in the second leg of their match facing a 5 hole deficit from the first leg. The combined 17 handicap Greensomes competition is calculated on holes won and the team is confident of overturning the deficit to proceed to the semi-finals.

The Junior Cowdy team 18+ handicaps take on Mannan Castle in the first leg at home with the away leg the following weekend in Mannan. The replayed Ulster Final could see a change in times for these games and team members will be advised on Tuesday if there are any changes.

The juvenile day on Tuesday is proving very successful with the lessons for club members at 11 am followed by a competition.  The winner of the second competition was Barry McKinley with Caomhne Downey in second place.
The Ronan Rafferty team will be in action this coming weekend as they take on a strong Tandragee side at home on Saturday with the away leg in Tandragee on Sunday. The team comprising of Micheal McGuinness, Daniel Hughes, Neil Smyth, Christopher McKay, Ryan McGivern, Stephen Coleman, Conor McShane, Mark Garvey and Eddie English have already recorded good wins over both Lisburn and Co Armagh

The Crash Repair Wednesday Cup off the front white markers saw Seamus Fearon win his way through to the final of the competition which will be held on Wednesday August 20. Next Wed is off the back nine white markers.

The Singles and Pairs competitions have progressed well to the quarter finals in both with the strict adherence to the deadlines keeping things running smoothly.

The Open 3 Person Scramble on Monday last was a close run affair with a fraction of a shot separating the top three finishers. Billy Ryan, Conor Matthews and Declan Markey had a 62 for third place. The Seniors brigade were well represented as Noel Williams, Jim McDonnell and Fr Cullen were second on 61.7 a half a shot more than the winners led by Cooley man Gerry McShane, Raymond Flynn and Tony Fenton.

On Thursday the Seniors Open was dominated by Dundalk with Noel Magill the winner with 42 points from John Byrne who has happily recovered from a recent bout of illness.
