Cloverhill Golf Club - Captain Gene McKevitt

Sad news reached the club on Saturday morning with the news that past Captain Gene McKevitt had passed away the night before. Gene an inaugural committee member worked tirelessly in the establishment of the club and was installed as Captain in 2001. The suddenness of his passing came as quite a shock as he adorned the fairways a couple of weeks before and was looking forward to the 2009 season. Because of the success of the 3 person Open scrambles there will be a Christmas weekend three day scramble on Dec (26, 27, 28) at £30 per team with prizes for the top three plus the daily winners Tee-times must be pre-booked Tel- 02830 889374 or 02830889580.

The Second Sunday Turkey dinner headed to the Tumilty household after Seamus triumphed in the persistent rain to fend off the challenge of Joe Macken.

Members old and new are availing of the good Euro rate to get their membership for 2009 paid. At current rates full golf membership at Cloverhill comes at as little as a Euro a day for the whole year.

The annual Captain’s Dinner will take place in the clubhouse on Saturday Jan 17. Tickets can be had from any committee member but hurry as numbers are limited.
