Cloverhill Golf Club - Paddy Malone Takes the Medal
The July Medal was won in style by Paddy Malone (13) who was 5 over for his round finishing with a nett 61 to be four shots clear in a Dundalk one two from Noel Magill with Seamus McParland back in third place.
The Crash Repair Centre, Newry Wednesday Cup off the shorter front nine Green markers produced some terrific scoring but no one just like in his last sporting career could get past the winner Benny Tierney (11) who shot 24 points with birdies at holes 3, 6 and 8 helping his cause greatly. Benny finished one point in front of fellow Mullaghbawn members Mickey Crawley and Raymond Kelly who were joined by James Coburn with the trio one better than Brendan O Rourke and Steve O Hara.
The Sam Rutherford team overturned an 8 hole deficit on Sunday against Banbridge to earn a place in the semi-final of the competition. The match was a very close run affair despite the first Cloverhill pairing of David Pilkington and Benny Tierney reducing the overall deficit to one by winning by 7 holes. Jim McKay and Paul Owens gave Cloverhill the lead with a 2 hole victory as Sean Campbell and Daniel Hughes and Colin Pilkington and Christopher Hughes halved their matches eventhough they both were one up on 18. The3 categories competition was a very keenly contested affair in all three divisions with Paul Murchan (15) claiming the overall winners prize with a return of 44 points. Division One( 0-12) was won with 40 points by Mark Keogh (10) Division Two (13 - 20) was won by Seamus McParland (15) who shot 42 points with Division Three going to Dominic Keeley (26) with 40 points.21-28 .

The Tuesday Juvenile competition at 11 am was won this week by Gareth Kilgallon from Martin Hillen and Aaron Rowland in third place. Competition continues this Tuesday as the race for Juvenile Golfer of the Year intensifies with the top 6 as follows-Aaron Rowland 34, David McKinley 32, Gareth Kilgallon, Shane O Neill, Mark Rowland, John Reel all on 26.
The penultimate round for the Seniors Golfer of the Year was played on Thursday and the results points to a very exciting finale. Noel Williams was the Section One winner from Gerry McShane Section Two was won by Ronnie McConnell with Oliver McDonald runner-up. The leading player going into the final round is Fr Cullen with Noel Williams heading the chasing pack which has 6 players within 4 points of the leader
A packed Friday open produced great scoring and a first time winner in Conal Sands (20) from Banbridge who shot 45 points to win by 3 from Captains Prize winner Gavin McErlean (13) who was second on the countback from Heber McMahon (16) who also had 42 points .Competition continues this Friday with players reminded that there is a Rossmore Cup quarter -final on the tee at 5pm.
