Cloverhill Golf Club -SEAN WINS APRIL MEDAL

Sean Campbell (11) was the winner of the April Medal competition with a nett return of 63 to win on the countback from Joe Mackin (14) as the pair finished two shots clear of Seamus McGivern who filled third place. Sean joins March winner Brendan Hughes in the October final for the Gold medal. There will be a three person rumble next weekend.        

                 
The Ulster Fourball team got the inter club competitions off to a winning start as they overcame Temple in the two legs With a 5-0 home win under their belts Cloverhill went about the business of winning the match early at Temple. The first match out saw Declan O Neill and Joe Hazzard earn a half match with the second pairing of Peter Byrne and Larry O Rourke winning 5/4 to secure the win allowing the other three matches be called in. The next team into action is the Jimmy Bruen side who will be hoping to follow up last years qualifying success by coming through the qualifiers at Kilkeel next Sunday. On Sunday May 10 we begin the defense of our Sam Rutherford Trophy at Ringdufferin with the home leg on May 24. The Junior Cowdy team will play at home to Dungannon on May 10 with the away leg on May 31. The Pierce Purcell team will be in qualifying action in Portadown also on May 10.

The Seniors on Thursday held an 18 hole stableford with John Byrne and Brendan Brown returning the top scores of 42 points which left them tops of their section two while 40 points from Jim McDonnell won section one by a point from Noel Williams.

The first Crash Repair Cup 9 hole midweek competition saw young Christopher McKay eclipse a strong field by reaching the winners enclosure with a return of 19 points. This weeks 9 hole competition will be played off the back nine white markers.

St Joseph’s High Scholl will be once again hosting their Annual Golf Classic at Cloverhill on Saturday May 16.
