Cloverhill Golf Club - All To Play For In Last Week

There has been tremendous interest in the 18 hole Eclectic competition that has run in conjunction with the 12 hole stableford competition. With only one week remaining to play it could not be more delicately poised with some 20 players within a half dozen shots of leader Joe Mackin. In fairness to Joe he will have to produce some golf next week to improve on his score while a few in the chasing pack have room to maneuver. Joe is a shot ahead of Dundalk duo Noel Magill and Brendan O Rourke. Colm Traynor is three shots behind with Seamus McCoy and Ivan Whelan a further shot in arrears as they make up the leading six players.

The early season form of Seamus Tumilty can be gauged by him winning the 12 hole stableford for the second week running. Seamus went one point better than last week accumulating 31 points for the 12 holes. Mark Hughes marked his seasonal debut with a fine return of 28 points to finish in second place.

There is already a good entry for the Individual and team Spring League which will begin on Monday 9 February. If you are not entered you can do so by putting your name on the envelopes along with the £15 entry fee which covers the five weeks of the competition. The best 4 cards out of five will count in the individual event. The rules for teams will be finalized once the amount of teams and their numbers are finalized.

The seniors on Thursday mornings have gotten the welcome addition of a few new members. With a beautiful fixture book designed and produced by Noel the complete list of competitions for Seniors is exquisitely mapped out for the year. There will be a 12 hole competition next Thursday as a prelude to the 5 weeks of Spring league which commences on Thursday Feb 12 right through to Thursday March 12
