Cloverhill Golf Club - STEVE IS CRASH REPAIR CHAMPION

Clareman Steve O Hara (11) can put the NEWRY CRASH REPAIR CENTRE (30266511) WED CUP sponsored by proprietor Michael Concannon along with his 1995 All-Ireland hurling meadal following his victory in Sunday's 18 hole final. The 18 weekly winners of the Wed 9 hole competition teed off from 8-30 in the final A double bogey start did not deter Steve as he followed it with a birdie and finished the opening 9 with 22 points. Steve repeated the 22 point haul over the second nine for a winning score of 44. Runner-up was Christopher Reel (18) who shot 42 points with Daniel Hughes (10) third on 37

There was a 3 person Scramble for those not involved in the final and it turned out to be a good contest with an opening four birdie blits in the front nine holes doing the business for the winners. The birdies dried up on the back nine for Dermot Smyth (23), Brendan Byrne (18) and Raymond Martin (20) but their four under plus their 6.1 handicap allowance left them comfortable winners over second placed Paul Owens (9), Benny Tierney (10) and Joe Pilkington (16) who could only find four birdies also.
