Cloverhill Golf Club - Hole In One For Benny

The last of the sweep competitions saw play delayed until 11-30 due to the frost but it still attracted a good crowd of players especially given the rich pickings that were won last week. It was especially good news for those in attendance as the drinks were on Armagh All-Ireland winning goalkeeper Benny Tierney following his hole in one at the 140 yard par 3 fourth hole. Benny the sweep winner two weeks ago was upstaged this time by his brother in law Declan who took the honours for the second week in a row with 29 points. Benny was second with 27 one ahead of Ollie Reel with Jim McKay back in fourth spot.

The sheet for the individual and team Spring league is posted in the clubhouse. The league will commence on Monday Feb 1 and will run for 5 weeks. The best three cards out of 5 will count in the individual league and the best three scores each week of the 5 person team will county in the team event for the 5 weeks.

The Seniors have been in action this last two Thursday's. Allthough the weather was cold it did not stop those hardy souls from turning out for the three person scramble the first week followed by a 3 person rumble the second week.The scramble saw Noel Magill, Vincie Gorman and Fr Cullen finish a fraction in front of club captain Charlie O Hare, Jim McDonnell and Noel Williams. The rumble resulted in a tie and a decision to split the winnings between the team of Gerry McShane, Fr Cullen and Anthony Murphy with that of Vincie Gorman, Charlie O Hare and Jim McDonnell. This Thursday is a singles stableford competition. The Seniors Spring League will commence on Thursday Feb 11 and will run for 5 weeks with the best four cards to count.
There will be a fundraising Poker Classic on this coming Saturday afternoon Feb 6 with a 4-30 start. There is £500 pizemoney and entry fee is £20.

The Captains Drive-in will be held on Sunday March 14. As is the norm the ceremonial drive -in by the respective Captains will take place at 9 am and will be followed by a shotgun start scramble
