Cloverhill Golf Club - Colin McParland Tops the Pile
The last 18 hole competition over the full course was for the club competition prizewinners throughout the year and certainly brought in some good scores given the heavy underfoot conditions. Colin McParland (12) was the overall winner with 43 points which was one better than nearest rival Liam Harte (20). Young Gareth Kilgallon (18) won the four way countback for third with 40 points. Cathal Hughes (26) won the Back Nine with 22 points with the same points tally doing the business for Brendan Heaney (26) on the Front Nine. Shane Grant (12) won the Gross prize.
The 12 hole competitions will commence this coming weekend for the Christmas prizes. Along with the christmas prizes there will be a 7 week eclectic competition on the scorecards with prizes for the top 3 from the best 5 cards out of 7.
The Seniors played. The fourth round of their 6 week 12 hole competition and the competition is really hotting up with 2 weeks remaining. Sean Conroy with 33 points is the overall leader by half a point from Heber McMahon with Seamus McCoy back in third spot with 30 points. It was a win on Thursday by Sean which propelled him to top of the pile with Heber back in joint second place along with Fr Cullen, Seamus McCoy and Vincie Gorman. So it's all to play for over the next two weeks.
DUNNE IT AT LAST
It has been on the cards for a couple of months now but it took the very last Friday Open of the Year for Ciaran Dunne to break the 40 point mark for the first time. Dundalk man Ciaran shot 42 points in very testing conditions to take first place ahead of Mickey Rushe who beat playing partner Fr Cullen on the countback after both returned 38 points. For Ciaran it is “Like a London bus” as he followed up Friday's win with an even better score despite having been cut with a massive 46 points spread evenly over both nines to win the Sunday competition
The Cloverhill last man standing has now only 7 players remaining in the competition. Names and money is now being collected for the the next one.
