Cloverhill Golf Club - Peter Smyth Takes the Turkey

The first Sunday frost quickly disappeared to allow the opening weeks play in the 12 hole- 7 week Eclectic-Christmas voucher competition. There will be weekly prizes for the top three cards and in the overall eclectic competition prizes for those who finish one, two, three.

The competition runs from Monday to Sunday and repeat play is allowed off 7/16 of full handicap allowance. Entry fee is £3 and please use specially provided scorecard. The first household the Cloverhill Santa will be calling to is in Louth village as Peter Smyth (11) became the first winner with a return of 28 points which was one better than David Pilkington (3) who beat Martin Traynor (8) on the countback for the minor placings after both hit 27 points. Joe Hazzard (8), James Coburn (8), John Quinn (11), Paul Kelly (4) and Seamus McCoy (7) all came close after returning 26 points each.

The Seniors played the fifth round of their 6 week 12 hole competition despite the rainy conditions. The weekly winner was Noel Magill with Sean Conroy and Fr Cullen joint second. This result increases Sean's lead at the top of the overall chart with one week to go.

Every Tuesday night in the club commencing at 8-30 there will be Partners “45” cards for turkey's. Members and non-members are most welcome to join in on the craic.

Liverpool fairly depleted the Cloverhill last person standing which is now down to four, Karla Casey, Brian Ryan, Eugene Creelman and Gerry McShane heading into the International break. Names and money is now being collected for the the next one.
