First Noel Comes Early For Magill

Christmas certainly came early for Dundalk taxi driver Noel Magill. The losing of Euros in the Monday Club outings paled into significance as he produced the round of his life in the second turkey competition. The 28 handicapper found himself only 3 over par after the front nine which included a birdie at the index 5, par 4, fifth, worth 5 points as he finished with a staggering 28 points total for the front nine. The bubble burst in the back nine with a sense of normality returning to his card as he finished 13 over for the back nine which was worth 20 points to give him a great total of 48 points. Noel, who finished third last week needed them all as Brendan Hughes finished the back nine with 25 points to go with 20 on the outward 9 for a total of 45 points and second place. Club President Seamus McCoy and Wayne Liddy were next with 43 points.

The Seniors who play on Thursday mornings had a thrilling finale to their Winter League with Frank Quinn taking the honours from Jim McDonnell with Fr. Kevin Cullen back in third place. The Thursday competitions will continue with Christmas prizes to be won over the coming weeks.

The vertidraining done during the week by Horta Soils got a quick baptism and everyone agreed that it came through with flying colours given the great condition of the course. The third turkey competition takes place this week and is sure to be as keenly contested as the first two.

The Annual presentation night in the clubhouse will be held on next Saturday November 24 at 9pm followed by music with Charlie. With the perpetual trophies well distributed after the year’s competitions there will be a very large attendance to finish off a very successful year for Captain Noel Williams.

The Annual General meeting will take place on Monday November 26 at 8-30 sharp. All the nomination forms have been returned and there are some interesting motions down for discussion.
