Spring League

There is only one week remaining in the Spring league with the winners of the three sections still very much up in the air. With the best three out of the four weeks to count a good return on the final week could see a few surprises at the final countdown.

The 0-13 section saw Sean Campbell top score for the second week in succession. Sean finished with 27 points for the counting 12 holes with  Colin Pilkington on 25 points one more than overall leader after three weeks Mark Keogh. Only a couple of points separate Mark, Sean and Frank Quinn which can easily be overturned this week.

Daniel Hughes had 28 points for the second successive week in the 14-20 section to put a little pressure on runaway overall leader Club President Seamus McCoy. Seamus could afford to miss out next week and hope that Daniel will not hit 30 points or else better his lowest score of 24 to put increased pressure on his challengers. Club officers are featuring prominently on the course as Vice-captain tied Daniel in this section with 28 points also.

The high section 21-28 brought Tommy Bradley back into the overall reckoning as his winning 22 points was three better than overall leader Noel Magill as Jim Conroy, Pat Crossan and Mickey White dropped away but remain within shouting distance if the produce on the last week should Noel and Tommy falter.

On Thursday the Seniors Spring league commenced with in-form Charlie O Hare taking an early commanding lead with 31 points for the 12 hole competition leaving Fr Cullen and Jim McDonnell in his wake for the minor placings. In section two Peter McCreesh and Turlough O Brien tied for top spot.

Sunday March 2 is a fourball better ball competition, arrange your own partner. Various team captains will be using this competition to put some of their expected inter-club competitionpairings together. The following week will afford a similar opportunity as it is a foursomes competition
