Sunday March 2 fourball better ball competition

The Sunday March 2 fourball better ball competition provided some very good scoring with only 2 points separating the top three finishers. Despite the club week-end away to Portmarnock there was a great turnout of members with team club captains encouraging some prospective partnership with a view to inter-club matches to participate.

As it turned out it was a mixture of youth and experience that won the day as in –form Daniel Hughes and seasoned campaigner Tony Fenton came out tops with 45 points. The winners were a point clear of Mark Keogh & Raymond Flynn who were a point clear of third placed Gene Hughes and Frank Quinn.

Next week will afford the pairs a similar opportunity to join forces but in a foursomes capacity this time round. The winner over the two days at Portmarnock was Colin Pilkington with a point to spare over Jim McKay.

Club Captain’s Peter Byrne and Anne Murphy will be hosting their drive-in on Sunday 16 March @ 8-30 followed by a shotgun start scramble for all members at 9 pm. To facilitate the smooth running of the event all participants are to be present for the drive-in time.
